Mission Statement

Coastal Mass Brewing (CMB) will provide patrons with a space in which to relax and enjoy themselves via a classic taproom experience. CMB will serve hand-crafted, artisanal ales brewed 100% on-site. CMB will differentiate themselves from other craft breweries through their distinct portfolio of beer styles, brewing techniques and small batch sizes. These points of differentiation will translate into an exceptional level of quality and freshness, which, combined with a commitment to customer service and ethically driven business practices, will translate into an authentic, hyper-local brand, built from the ground up by three passionate, lifelong members of the Beverly community.

VALUES

The CMB CORE VALUES are:

  • Integrity

  • Communication

  • Respect

  • Compassion

It is our goal to foster an environment where all decisions are informed by the values above, driving our owners and employees to act with sound judgement and a sense of pride in knowing their work contributes to our community and industry in a positive way. Through these value-based decisions, we will create a craft brewery that is committed to diversity, equity & inclusion, and a small business that our community is proud of.

Drugs & Alcohol

Good performance on the part of our employees is crucial to the CMB’s success. For this reason, we strictly forbid employees to do the following while at work:

  • Drink excessively while on company time.*

  • Report for work intoxicated.

  • Sell, purchase or use illegal drugs during working hours and/or on Company property. An "illegal drug" is any drug that has not been obtained by legal means. This includes prescription drugs being used for non-prescribed purposes.

  • Possess any non-prescribed, controlled substance, including legal but illegally obtained prescription drugs.

*Staff are encouraged to sample CMB’s beers (< 4 oz) to familiarize themselves with each style and flavor. Employees should refrain from having any personal open containers of beer on the bar-top while the taproom is open for business. Each employee is permitted one “shift beer” at the conclusion of their shift. This may be a 16 oz (or less) draft pour and is covered by CMB.

We reserve the right to test employees for substance abuse. Illegal drugs, illegal drug metabolites, or excessive alcohol in your system will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.

CMB cares about the overall health and well-being of its employees. Any employee who feels that he/she is developing a substance abuse problem is urged to seek help. CMB will grant time off (within reason) for rehabilitation. Be advised, however, that this will not excuse a substance-related offense. In some cases, completion of a CMB-approved rehabilitation program may serve as an alternative to termination.

Disciplinary Action

CMB takes disciplinary matters very seriously and will exact discipline as it sees fit for any unacceptable action or behavior. These actions and/or behavior may include:

  • Excessive lateness and/or absence

  • Improper or indecent conduct

  • Poor communication

  • Uncooperative attitude

  • Possession and/or use of illegal drugs, weapons or explosives

  • Harassment and/or discrimination of any kind

  • Violations of Company policy

Disciplinary action may consist of anything from verbal/written warnings and counseling, to demotion, transfer, suspension or termination. CMB will handle each matter individually to ensure fairness to all involved. Please review and internalize the list of "Don'ts" above and try to use good judgment at all times.
